The natural resources that fuel our country are depleting
fast. The recent power shortages are showing us natural gas
supplies are endanger and rising gas prices point to troubles with crude oil supplies.
Corporate scandals like Enron, are
only making things worse. Experts all agree
we need a solid energy policy that focuses on renewable energy sources and
decreases our consumption and dependence on depleting resources like natural
gas and crude oil.
But for some reason, the Bush Administration does not agree. Their energy policy entails tax breaks and subsidies for
gas and oil
companies to increase drilling in search of the energy supply that will soon be obsolete anyways. It is literally
pouring money into a lost cause and doing
nothing to resolve our energy crisis. To understand why the Bush
making such a bad policy decision, we would have to ask Vice
President Cheney's secret energy task force. But of course,
is currently at the Supreme Court trying to keep this information private. Let's face it, we don't need
anymore deceptions and detrimental policy, we need real solutions
for a secure and sustainable energy source.
