Bush's mission for God
By Amitrajit Chatterjee

For the past four years, President George Bush has utilized the government to crush civil rights, fail to allot adequate consideration for privacy, create mass hysteria over "national security", and extend government tentacles over private citizens. He has been successful in implementing the first phases of "One World Order" over foreign countries by pre-meditated and unprovoked military attacks. It is hard to believe that God would sanction the brutality that Bush, the supposedly Born Again Methodist, has unleashed in Iraq. It is also doubtful that like any sane person, God would willfully allow American soldiers to be killed, beheaded or dismembered over what has been revealed as a pack of lies.

George Bush, the third Methodist 1 ever to become President, is trying very hard on his campaign trail to convince Christians as to the credibility of his being a born again Methodist. "His faith is insincere at best, a hypocrisy at worst, and mostly a political cover for his right-wing agenda."2 His claims of conversion having solved his personal and family problems and given him a sense of direction, has also deeply affected his foreign policy. The tragedies of 9/11 brought on a never before seen transformation. From a "compassionate conservative" he turned into a "savior" out to rid the world of evil. God is supposed to look after mankind to obliterate social injustices by removing the differences. Michael Duffy wrote in Time magazine, the president spoke of "being chosen by the grace of God to lead at that moment." This war mongering crusader has always believed in a "divine plan that supersedes all human plans." He has increasingly projected himself as a part of that divine plan. We have a president running amok believing he has been appointed by Him to be the "commander in chief" of a God-given righteous mission. Even in last year's State of the Union address, Bush named Iraq, Iran and North Korea as the "axis of evil." He has incorporated more theological statements in his speeches than any other previous presidents. He has always viewed his fight against Saddam as that between good and evil. Pope John Paul II has urged Bush to quit evoking God's name to justify war, according to an April 5 Minneapolis Star Tribune article.3 We cannot really condemn the Iraqis in their 'jihad' against the 'infidels' occupying their country, since Bush has repeatedly used the term "crusade", something which has troubled followers of the Islamic faith all around the world. Bush's justifications of the Iraq War using "religious rhetoric and... his Christian faith... played into the hands of Muslim fundamentalists who see the looming battle as a 'crusade' against Islam," according to a Los Angeles Times March 18 article.4

At no time in this country's history has any president gone to war because of a 'higher calling'. They went out of necessity. Bob Woodward says Bush told him he did not appeal to his father for advice on Iraq because "there's a higher father that I appeal to."5 As a result, over 1,000 American soldiers have been sent to their death, thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians have been massacred, and countless Iraqi prisoners subjected to inhuman torture and abuse. I wonder what God has to say about that?

The American people did not elect Bush and we hope that people turn out in droves to show Bush and his stooges who the real silent majority truly represents. If you are not registered to vote please do so today and tell your friends and family.

Thank You.
